Welcome to Aquatics Pro

I visited the pool in my hometown last year and helped them sort out some mechanical issues. This is where I got my start in aquatics!
I originally started this site as a way to easily access resources, job search links, and educational links, but kept it private. My husband created a page a few years before that made it easy to access professional and job search resources.
Life got away from me, and we got busy with other things. I decided it was time to make this site public to share my experiences from my 30+ year career as an aquatics professional.
My plan is discuss all things aquatic and swimming related. I will cover a variety of topics including ideas on how to better teach children to swim, how to maintain swimming pools and why, water safety information, best places to go swimming, working in aquatics around the world, etc.
I also want to write about some of the swimming related leisure activities and travel we have done in Southeast Asia.
In 2019 I got scuba certified (Open Water Diver, and Dry Suit with SDI – Scuba Diving International) in Alberta, Canada and did my certifying dives in Lac Beauvert, a cold mountain lake in Jasper National Park.
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to dive since I arrived in Thailand due to some ear and sinus issues. I have had two surgeries to fix these issues and hope to be able to do some diving and snorkelling in the near future. I will definitely share these experiences with you when they happen.
You may have gathered that I am writing this blog from Southeast Asia (and I am), specifically Bangkok, Thailand. We moved here at the end of 2020, and I gave more detail about how we got here in my about page. I’ll do a post later, going into more detail about how I started working overseas.
If you are interested in learning more about all things aquatics, including some of my experiences working in Bangkok, Thailand, please follow along.
